A True Adoption Story:
Written by her ever grateful Aunt
The remarkable thing about adoption is its ability to transform and mold not only the life of the adopted child but also those around them.
Here’s an inspiring story shared by a dear friend, illustrating exactly that.
Many years ago a young Southern California woman who was not married experienced an unplanned pregnancy. After considering her options, she decided to have the baby and put the baby up for adoption, one of the lifesaving alternatives to abortion. She gave birth to a baby girl, and put her up for adoption as planned. She eventually married, but was not able to have any more children. The years flew by. She often wondered what happened to her one and only daughter, and longed to try to find her.
She decided to use one of the online Ancestry or Family Tree Sites, registered with them, and sent them a sample of her DNA. In December, 2018, she was contacted by a woman from North Carolina who was using the same site trying to find her birth mother. Their DNA’s matched! Mother and daughter had found each other. Not only that, but the newly found North Carolina daughter informed her mother that she had two children of her own, a boy and a girl, and that her mother is also a grandmother!
Mother and daughter met in January of 2019. All of a sudden the daughter went from being an only child with no known blood relatives to finding out that she was the oldest of ten grandchildren, and cousin to nine.
In June of 2020, the North Carolina daughter’s adoptive parents and birth parents all met in in a beautiful park in North Carolina to celebrate what the daughter described as “the day I had always hoped for—a dream come true.”
Currently, the Southern California Grandma’s granddaughter is studying for her real-estate license, and her grandson graduates from college this June and is engaged to be married!
It’s interesting how things have turned out. A choice for LIFE, made fifty years ago, has come full circle. Her family is truly blessed.
With adoption, all things are possible…for that child and for God!
“For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for prosperity
and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” ~ Jeremiah 29:11
